On July 8, Nothing’s sub-brand CMF will introduce the CMF Phone 1, the company’s first smartphone. The official teasers suggest that it won’t look anything like any of the brand’s previous phones, but it will probably have a unique design—possibly with a modular construction. What we now know about the CMF Phone 1, a smartphone that its creators claim is “wonderful by design,” is as follows.

Official teases and leaks have made it clear that the CMF Phone 1 is a fully modular smartphone. The company is doing something a little unusual by including actual screws into the design. Like the CMF Neckband Pro and the Power 65W fast charger, the CMF Phone 1 is likely to have a plastic body and may come in a variety of hues, including vibrant orange.
To make repairs easier, the CMF Phone 1 will likely also include a unique tool for extracting the SIM card that doubles as a screwdriver.

As of right now, there’s no proof that the CMF Phone 1 would sport a huge 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, maybe with 120Hz refresh rate. It is also expected to come with a flat panel display that has a punch-hole cutout, just like the company’s other smartphones. Because of its OLED panel, the phone might come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

It is also unknown if the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, which powers the CMF Phone 1, has capability for virtual RAM expansion, 128 GB of internal storage, and 8 GB of RAM. Presumably, the phone will come pre-installed with Nothing OS, which is based on Android 14, and software support should be similar to that of the brand’s previous models.

Every Nothing smartphone to yet has included a dual-camera setup at the back, and the CMF Phone 1 is most likely to continue this tradition. Numerous reports suggest that the phone will have a 50 MP primary sensor, however there are few data available regarding the other sensors.

Finally, a 5,000 mAh battery is expected for the smartphone, maybe with support for rapid charging. There’s a good chance the phone will come in a unique retail box, and a charger won’t be in it.

The CMF Phone 1 is advertised as the company’s most affordable phone, at least at launch. The Nothing Phone’s pricing suggests that the CMF Phone 1 will likely cost much less than Rs 20,000 in India (2a). The company has earlier declared that the CMF Phone 1 will only be available for purchase on Flipkart.
