Moto Razr 50 Ultra vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6: A battle of the clamshells

At the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris on Wednesday, July 10, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip6 along with the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Watch7, and other gadgets. Pre-orders for the Moto Razr 50 Ultra were available to consumers on the same day.

Now that both of these folding clamshells are in the wild, let’s compare how well they perform.

Displaying and designing

Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 and the Moto Razr 50 Ultra take different tacks in the field of foldable smartphones. The 4.2-inch pOLED cover display on Motorola’s Razr 50 Ultra opens out to expose a 6.9-inch FHD+ pOLED main screen. It has an impressive peak brightness of 3,000 nits and a high refresh rate of 165 Hz.

Samsung refers to the 3.4-inch SuperAMOLED cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip6 as a “FlexWindow,” since it enables users to interact with AI-driven features without fully unfolding the device. It offers easy access to music controls, notifications, and other features. The device’s main display, a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, is visible upon opening.

Function

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, together with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, powers the Moto Razr 50 Ultra. It improves user personalisation and functionality by including AI technologies like Style Sync and Magic Canvas. With a number of Galaxy AI capabilities included, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. It has 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM.

Rechargeable

A 4,000mAh battery powers both the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 and the Moto Razr 50 Ultra.

compared to the Galaxy Z Flip6, which offers 25W fast charging together with 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging, the Moto Razr 50 Ultra enables 45W fast charging in addition to 15W wireless charging.

Additionally, Samsung adds liquid chamber cooling to the Galaxy Z Flip6 to improve performance over extended usage, which will appeal to consumers who require durability and dependability from their gadgets.

Two 50MP primary cameras and a 32MP front-facing camera are features of the Moto Razr 50 Ultra. By contrast, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 has two sensors: a 12MP ultra-wide and a 50MP wide sensor that together enable superior AI zoom capabilities up to 10x magnification. It sports a 10MP selfie camera as well.

Priced competitively at ₹99,999, the Moto Razr 50 Ultra is available with early bird discounts and a free pair of Moto Buds+ valued at ₹9,999 when purchased. A special ₹5,000 discount is available to buyers, bringing the price down to ₹94,999.

In the meantime, the starting price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is ₹1,09,999. Pre-ordering customers can receive an upgrade bonus of ₹8,000 or ₹8,000 cashback on their HDFC Bank credit cards. A ₹15,000 upgrade bonus is available to owners of current Samsung flagship models.
