The next Mahindra Thar five-door has removed its camouflage to reveal more about its design ahead of its anticipated August 15, 2024 public launch. Unlike its three-door sibling, the much awaited addition to the Thar family has a unique front end. Furthermore, a sunroof might only be available on the Thar Armada’s most expensive grade levels. These are only a few of the possible differences; closer to the debut date, a more comprehensive image of the capabilities available in each model should become apparent.

Beyond this, earlier spy photos suggested the presence of a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system—possibly derived from the Mahindra XUV 3XO—and a fully digital instrument cluster. The list of features can also include a possible sunroof and rear AC vents.

There will probably be a choice between two well-known engines to power the Mahindra Thar Armada: a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol and a 2.2-liter diesel. With 174 horsepower, the diesel engine—which is anticipated to be borrowed and tweaked from the Mahindra Scorpio-N—should provide a potent driving experience.

The 2.0-liter turbo-petrol offers a powerful 201 horsepower for customers looking for a petrol choice. A six-speed manual or automatic transmission with seamless shifts is probably going to be mated to both engines. For improved off-road capability, four-wheel drive will probably be standard, but Mahindra may also provide rear-wheel drive versions to satisfy customers on a tighter budget.
