Luckily, neither Tesla nor the NHTSA say they are aware of any significant incidents or crashes brought on by the malfunctioning frunk latch.

The recall affects all 2013–2024 Model S, 2016–2024 Model X, and 2020–2024 Model Y vehicles in the United States, as well as 2017–2024 Model 3 vehicles sold between September 6, 2017 and July 15, 2024 that include hood latches made in China. Out of the precise 1,850,363 automobiles built, only 1% are thought to have a possible problem, according to the update. Future manufacturing vehicles will come pre-installed with the upgrade.

For affected vehicles, the recall remedy entails a software upgrade with the version number 2024.20.3.
