In February 2024, Apple Vision Pro launched on sale. Although the business intends to expand its distribution to overseas markets, the mixed-reality headgear is currently only accessible in the United States. But it appears that the Cupertino-based tech giant’s newest product is still developing, and a successor is not in sight. According to a recent source, Apple does not plan to release the Vision Pro 2 until the end of 2026. Interestingly, Tim Cook, the CEO, has stated that the mixed-reality headset will be accessible in China starting in 2024.

Apple’s Vision Pro vision for the next two years does not entail releasing another headset onto the market, according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter. This supports the assertions made by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a Medium article from February that the Vision Pro 2 will not go into commercial production before 2027. If the claims are accurate, the tech giant may take up to three years to consider developing a new product that focuses on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

This does not imply that Apple has abandoned plans to release the Vision Pro. Gurman said the organization currently has three distinct focuses. First up is market expansion. The mixed-reality headgear is now only accessible in the United States, despite its launch. Cook has already announced that it will launch in China, so it looks like that country is first on the list. By 2025, the headset might be available in additional areas. According to reports, the tech giant has reduced orders for the Apple Vision Pro from a “market consensus” of 700,000 to 800,000 units to 400,000 to 450,000 units, suggesting that it is maintaining a cautious perspective on the number of units it will be able to sell.

According to Gurman, the ultimate goal is to create a less expensive headset. Before developing a replacement, the business reportedly wants to release a less expensive version of the Vision Pro. There is a problem, though. The article claims that Apple is having difficulty lowering the price and lacks a clear strategy to do so.
